Sift is a browser extension that hides, dims, or highlights posts on x.com based on rules you set.
What data is handled
- Website content: the text, author name and handle, quoted text, link-card text, and image alt text of posts that appear in your X feed.
- Settings: your rules, topics, and preferences.
- Feedback: the post IDs you mark as "Wrong call", "Hide", or "Keep".
- Hidden-post list: for posts Sift hid in the last 24 hours, the post ID, author handle, and reason, so you can review them. Deleted after 24 hours. No post text.
- Author counts: how many times each account appeared in your feed today, if you turn on the flood limit. Reset daily.
- An install ID: a random identifier used only for rate limiting in "Your server" mode.
Where it goes
- Demo mode (the default): nothing leaves your device.
- Your server and Direct modes: only after you tick the data notice in the extension. Post content is sent to the scoring server you configured and to TypeSafe AI (api.typesafe.ai), which returns a score. It is sent only to get that score.
- Settings, post IDs, author handles, and scores are stored locally in your browser. Post text is never stored.
- The scoring server logs only status codes, question counts, and timings. It never logs post content.
What we don't do
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties except to score posts as described above. We do not use it for advertising, credit decisions, or anything unrelated to filtering your feed. No analytics or tracking code is included in the extension or on this website.
The use of information received from this extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your controls
Untick the data notice or switch to Demo mode to stop sending data. "Clear score cache" and "Reset what it learned" delete stored scores and feedback. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored.
